Patricia “Pat” Jepson’s heritage with UConn spans various many years – from her time as a significant college scholar to her retirement in 2017. In the course of her profession, Jepson worked to promote excellence and variety in Connecticut’s agricultural education and learning applications – a motivation she maintains even now.
As a student at Wilson Significant School (now Middletown Significant School), Jepson was included in her school’s agriculture plan and took UConn co-op credits. Jepson, a to start with-technology college scholar, went on to review animal science at UConn.
Jepson was at first on the pre-veterinary monitor, but moved into the agricultural education and learning plan right after studying the impression she could have.

A Lifelong Dedication to Range
Jepson is driven by a dedication to significant human connection and helping other folks. Part of this commitment has associated Jepson’s championing the significance of diversity through her vocation.
Through her master’s application, Jepson taught in Hartford Public Universities, exposing her to learners with various backgrounds.
“That definitely was so meaningful for me, that I felt that awareness and want to effects a broader audience, and realizing education is so significant for people’s lives in the long term,” Jepson claims. “The effects of the Hartford working experience stayed with me throughout my total vocation.”
Via her place at CAHNR, Jepson worked with pupils in the two-yr, associates of used science program at Ratcliffe Hicks University of Agriculture. Working with much more non-standard college students underscored the great importance of wanting over and above a high college transcript for Jepson.

Jepson earned her PhD from the Neag School of Education in 2006. For her dissertation, Jepson worked with deaf students to review the impression of getting deaf role types on their self-efficacy in vocation arranging and doing work in science.
Jepson continuously lends philanthropic aid to results in throughout the College. Previously, she started a fund for UConn Ag Ed college students.
She also set up a memorial scholarship in her parents’ honor for superior faculty learners graduating from the Middletown Regional Agricultural Science and Know-how Application, where Jepson was a university student and trainer.
Jepson also supports scholarships and funds in CAHNR, the Neag College, and University-extensive variety initiatives. Jepson however retains a placement as an affiliate professor-in-home in the Neag College.
